Labour has laid out a 10-year plan to increase the UK’s offshore wind capacity in order to tackle the climate emergency, create new jobs and invest in coastal communities.

Labour’s 10 year plan

As part of Labour’s Green Industrial Revolution, Labour has presented its plan to increase offshore wind capacity five-fold to reduce emissions to net zero and keep global temperature rises to 1.5 degrees.

Labour’s 10-year plan will:

  • Radically expand the UK’s offshore wind capacity with 37 new wind farms.
  • Create more than 67,000 new good, unionised jobs.
  • Provide enough electricity to power 57 million households each year.
  • Invest public profits directly into held-back coastal communities and into decarbonising the economy.

Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party, said:

“Labour’s 10-year plan will provide the massive public investment needed to radically reduce our emissions and secure a future for our planet.”
