Young people are people too

All too often I see these post beginning with, "As a Labour member ..." or "Labour party ..." well forget all that for this one. As a fellow human being we need to get together and help.

Currently, young people diagnosed with Cancer need to appeal for Special Educational help. With waiting times of up to 16 weeks for an assessment.

This is simply not right.

Picture the scene, Diagnosed with Cancer one week. Chemo starts week after, you know you are in for at least 3 rounds and you get told you need to wait four months for the support of an Education and Health Care plan.

Your mental health has already taken a plummet following your diagnosis and now your worried you will slip behind in your learning and struggle passing your exams. Un-needed stress.

Could we not put into law a time frame, say 4 weeks on these initial assesments?

We need to do something.
